Who am I?
I am Ian Diaz, a deadline-oriented software engineer with professional experience in both frontend and backend development. This includes modern technologies such as Vue.js, Nuxt.js, ASP.Net Core, Node.js, a variety of databases, and real-time networking technologies including UDP, TCP, and Websockets. I have also worked extensively with AWS including the development of scalable infrastructures that cut costs by automatically scaling the backend to meet demand.
During my time at the Simulation and Gaming Applications Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, I worked on a number of educational games in the Unity game engine. These ranged from complex, data-driven, probabilistic simulation games to a visual novel emphasizing self-advocacy for the hard of hearing.
Non-professionally, I have worked on a number of games and game engines - both alone and with teams - including several VR projects and more traditional games. I am passionate about writing efficient code and very much enjoy programming close to the metal.
I currently work as a freelance software engineer for a number of primarily Austin-based organizations.
